A Letter to our Customers
March 26, 1996
Dear Unify Customer:
Current industry and customer demands have directed us to a change
in our software media. Starting at the beginning of April, 1996
with the Unify VISION 2.2 release, Unify will automatically deliver
our software on CD-ROM on all Windows platforms. Starting in
August 1996, Unify will also begin shipping CD-ROM for Macintosh
platforms and the following UNIX platforms for all Unify products.
- DEC Alpha
- HP 9000
- IBM RS 6000
- SCO UNIX
- SUN Solaris
- SUN SunOS
There are many benefits to a CD-ROM conversion:
- Time saving installation
- Greater reliability
- Reduced costs for you
- Alignment with current industry trends
- Media not subject to deterioration
As with previous releases, you will continue to receive information
including new functionality, README file (with important tips), and
known product limitations on the new software media.
Alternate media requirements
While we are sure that you will appreciate the benefits of CD-ROM
technology, we also understand that some customers may prefer to
receive their software on alternate media. Before July 31, 1996 we
will be happy to fulfill requests for alternate media free of
charge. However, beginning August 1, 1996, there will be a charge
for media other than CD-ROM on all Windows, Macintosh and UNIX
platforms listed above. These nominal charges will cover the costs
for the special processing required to produce the materials.
Your questions answered/Your ideas heard
While for the long term this change will benefit us all, we welcome
your ideas about our movement to CD-ROM technology. Your input is
very important to us. Please contact Unify by email: info@unify.com or call our
customer service hotline at 1-800-248-6439 with any
questions, concerns or special requests.
Thank you for using Unify's products and services.
Sincerely,
Kate Kansas
Director of Program Management
